Day of Portugal

Today is celebrated the day of Portugal and Camões. I'm not a great patriot and I do not believe in heroes or things made by individuals. The great work of Camões, "os Lusíadas" is dedicated to the great things made by Portuguese heroes. However I chose a poem of Camões but about love.
Amor é fogo que arde sem se ver
Amor é fogo que arde sem se ver;
É ferida que dói e não se sente;
É um contentamento descontente;
É dor que desatina sem doer;
É um não querer mais que bem querer;
É solitário andar por entre a gente;
É nunca contentar-se de contente;
É cuidar que se ganha em se perder;
É querer estar preso por vontade;
É servir a quem vence, o vencedor;
É ter com quem nos mata lealdade.
Mas como causar pode seu favor
Nos corações humanos amizade,
Se tão contrário a si é o mesmo Amor?
Luís de Camões

Love is a fire that burns without being seen;
It's a wound that hurts without being felt;
It's an unhappy happiness;
It's a pain that drives you crazy without hurting;
It's a wishing no more for what you like;
It's walking lonely within a crowd;
It's never being contented with contentedness;
It's seeking to find oneself in losing oneself;
It's wishing to be a prisoner of wishes;
It's serving who you have overcome, you the victor;
It's being faithful to someone who kills us.
But how can its favour cause
friendliness in human hearts,
if love itself is so contrary to itself?

"Grantchester Meadows"

"Grantchester Meadows"
Icy wind of night, be gome.
This is not your domain.
In the sky a bird was heard to cry.
Misty morning whisperings and gentle stirring sounds
Belied a deathly silence that lay all around.
Hear the lark and harken to the barking of the dog fox gone to ground.
See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water.
And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees,
Laughing as it passes through the endless summer making for the sea.
In the lazy water meadow
I lay me down.
All around me,
Golden sunflakes settle on the ground,
Basking in the sunshine of a by gone afternoon,
Bringing sounds of yesterday into this city room.
All around me,
Golden sunflakes covering the ground,
Basking in the sunshine of a by gone afternoon,
Bringing sounds of yesterday into my city room.
Hear the lark and harken to the barking of the dog fox gone to ground.
See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water.
And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees,
Laughing as it passes through the endless summer making for the sea.

Tuile Cookies Yum Yum!!

"Even if you don’t know what a tuile cookie is (pronounced “twill” or “tweel”), you’ve probably eaten them before. They’re delicate and sweet and often stuck into desserts, especially ice cream, at fancy restaurants. The great thing about tuile cookies is that they come out of the oven soft and pliable, allowing you to shape them whatever way you want before they cool and harden. They’re crisp and sweet and buttery–like the most delicate, most delicious ice cream cone you’ve ever had. In fact, ice cream cones are what got me thinking of tuile."

The two Dolls at the window

and books for the next two days
Outdated
Though the cultural anthropological system be
The lonely and unpopular
Might find the landscapes of their childhood marked out
Here, in the chaotic piles of souvenires.
